With just 2 more days until Opening Night in Kansas City, the Mets have made some final roster decisions. The team came into spring training with very few question marks when it came to the 25-man roster, and thanks to a relatively quiet and healthy time in Florida, it remained that way. One of the few questions entering this season was who would round out the bullpen and help build a bridge to Familia. That question has finally been answered.
Today the Mets announced former flame throwing closer, Jim Henderson, has locked up a spot in the bullpen and he is the definition of an Alderson low risk high reward type reclamation project signing from this past off-season. Henderson seems to have put the shoulder troubles behind him as he is back to throwing in the mid 90’s and was quite impressive all spring.
With Henderson’s addition, that means the commish, Eric Goeddel and Sean Gilmartin will be getting work in Vegas and serving as much needed bullpen depth for the marathon that is the baseball season.
The Mets also officially added Zack Wheeler and Josh Edgin to the DL to start the season. Both will hopefully be back with the big club before the All-Star break.
