Matt Harvey may be ailing from a dead arm after his shortest-career outing on Saturday. (May 24, 7:38 p.m.)
Mets manager Terry Collins said Harvey, in his first season since undergoing Tommy John surgery, could be going through a dead arm phase.
A dead arm typically refers to a sense of fatigue and is not a serious cause for concern by most accounts. (Aug. 21, 2009)
Harvey gave up a career-high seven runs Saturday in four innings in Saturday’s 8-2 loss to the Pirates.
Collins said Harvey is expected to make his next scheduled start on Friday on five days rest. The Mets are off on Thursday.
