Originally, Wright was supposed to be checked out on Monday and hoped to be cleared to resume baseball activities. After a visit and more treatment on Monday, clearance was not received. Same goes for today. Wright is feeling better, but for whatever reason, he is still not being cleared to return to baseball activities. At this point there is still no timetable for Wright’s return.
They are clearly being cautious with the aging star and face of the franchise, and I get it. The Mets have been winning without him and getting a completely healthy Wright back eventually is better for the long term success of this current team than a partially healthy Wright returning and being in and out of the lineup throughout the rest of the season. While they have to think about the immediate future and the Mets hopes for this season, they also have to keep in mind this guy is signed to be in Queens for quite some time and they need to be careful with their investment. All of that being said, I still see Wright returning within two weeks.
