The Mets (15-7) fell to the Marlins by a score of 7-3, as they head back to Citi Field from a losing road trip where they dropped both series 2-1 at the hands of the Yankees and Marlins. While the Mets entered the road trip red hot with 11 straight victories, they were quickly derailed by two teams entering on hot steaks of their own.
Colon (4-1) didn’t pitch poorly, but not so well either as he gave up 4 runs to the Marlins over 6 plus innings en route to his first loss of the season. After a quick start out of the gate, thanks to some impressive power by Michael Cuddyer, Colon quickly relinquished the lead to the superhuman that is Giancarlo Stanton.
The Mets young bullpen arms were on full display tonight as we got to see another impressive outing from Goeddel and Hansel Robles, as well as the major league debut for Jack Leathersich. Unimpressive, was the showing from Alex Torres, as he gave up a game breaking 3-run bomb to Ichiro.
