The Mets fell to the Marlins 4-3 tonight, marking their first defeat at the hands of the Marlins in 6 games this season. It was another close game that saw the Mets come back from a 3-0 hole with some timely hitting and a huge bases clearing double from red hot Juan Lagares.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! For some reason, the Mets decided now was a good time to call up Rafael Montero to be a 6th (spot) starter. The idea was to allow all of the starters, especially Harvey, an extra day of rest this turn through the rotation. However, why mess with a good thing. The Mets are 15-6 and first in the NL East on the shoulders of their starters, so let’s go and mess with that mojo.
Daniel Murphy has finally joined the 2015 Mets. After a go ahead 3 run homer last night, he contributed with 3 more base knocks this evening. As we continue to hear at every opportunity he is good as gone after the season, I actually hope he hits so well that his trade stock rises and we can move him to open up second base for the “future all-star” Dilson Herrera.
Carlos Torres needs a vacation. Rubber arm, needing to pitch, needing a feel, I don’t want to hear any of that. This guy couldn’t possibly pitch any more then he already does. He led the league in innings for a reliever last year and it feels like he’s been in every game this year already. His slider is flat and floating across the plate and his fastball is straight. He needs to fix whatever is going on or he’s going to be losing pressure situations real quick.
