Rafael Montero will be making a spot start tomorrow evening in Miami. I don’t quite get what the Mets are doing here as they are sticking to the fact they will not be employing a six man rotation. They are giving Montero the spot start to allow all of their starters an extra day’s rest, but why now?
To make room for Montero, the Mets sent down Danny Muno. Muno was called up to provide depth off of the bench, and switch hitting depth at that. However, since his call-up, he has been used sparingly and now with Murphy back in the groove of things, there is less of a need. Not to mention, Wright will be back shortly and the Mets may decide to stick with the 8 man bullpen until it is time to activate the Captain.
