Bobby Parnell is on the road back from Tommy John surgery and has not seen his velocity return to pre-surgery flame thrower status up to this point. His recovery seems to be slower and with less positive steps being taken than the one Harvey faced. This is why Tommy John is such a scary surgery. Not all pitchers bounce back as expected, nor with more velocity, as thought by so many.
Parnell was checked out and determined that a week of rest should suffice, but at this point, I wouldn’t have much hope or confidence that he will be back with the Mets any time soon. There are still many obstacles he needs to overcome before being considered Major League ready.
