As expected, Kevin Plawecki has been promoted to the big club to replace d’Arnaud. Terry Collins stated in his post game presser that if Plawecki were to be the guy, he would be the number 1 catcher. This is obviously the correct move. If the plan was to have him back up Recker, he would have been better served receiving regular playing time in Las Vegas.
In response to the Blevins injury, the Mets are calling upon young (24) right handed reliever Hansel Robles. Robles hasn’t allowed a run in five appearances spanning 7 2/3 innings at Triple-A this season. He has 10 strikeouts to 1 walk. He was a starter and reliever last season in the minors and this will be his first opportunity to pitch in a major league game.
